CUABOAL1SSOV000 electrostatic balancing socket
CUABOAL1SSOV000

In brief. The CUABOAL1SSOV000 is a female static grounding receptacle with a triangular flange, designated 700E and 20653 by its manufacturer, fixed by three 4 mm bolts to an aircraft or a refueller. 5056A aluminium body, copper-alloy spring-loaded sleeve, 15 g. NATO Stock Number (NSN) 5935-14-213-6073. We source it or design an equivalent; quote within 48 working hours.
It is used on the aircraft and on the refueller alike. This page covers its mounting, its dimensions and what sets it apart from the 700S, its close relative.
What does a grounding receptacle do on a refueller?
It provides a fixed connection point for the cable that links the aircraft to the refuelling equipment. According to US patent 4525014 (1985), this connection prevents an electrostatic charge from building up and causing an arc capable of igniting the fuel. The current datasheet specifies mounting the CUABOAL1SSOV000 "on the aircraft or refueller": the same receptacle therefore equips both ends of the connection.
The French standard NF L94-111 spoke of "équilibrage électrostatique" (electrostatic balancing) in 1955 and of "mise à la terre" (grounding) in 1975. In English, the term is static grounding receptacle.
How is the CUABOAL1SSOV000 mounted?
With three 4 mm bolts through the three Ø 4.2 mm holes in the triangular base flange, spaced at 120°. The original manufacturer's drawing shows a receptacle that passes through the wall: the base flange of the 700E sits on the side opposite the connection, and the Ø 15 mm body protrudes 31 mm on the connection side. The CUABOAL61SOR000 waterproof electrostatic balancing socket is fixed differently: it clamps onto the bulkhead with a lock nut, without bolts.
What are the dimensions of the 700E and the 700S?
The two receptacles share the same base flange; what differs is how they are mounted relative to the wall. Dimensions taken from the original manufacturer's drawing, in millimetres:
| Dimension | 700E (CUABOAL1SSOV000) | 700S (CUANOAL61SOV000) |
|---|---|---|
| Base flange position | Side opposite the connection | Connection side |
| Body diameter | Ø 15 | Ø 16 |
| Body protrusion on connection side | 31 | Not applicable (base flange at front) |
| Dimension on base flange side | 4 | 3 |
| Body length behind the wall | Not dimensioned | 32 |
| Overall length | Not dimensioned | 35 |
| Base flange (shared) | 3 holes Ø 4.2 at 120°, Ø 35 and Ø 26, height 29 | Identical |
Our reading: the 700E has a protruding body onto which the plug is connected, whereas the 700S sits flush with its base flange. Before replacing one with the other, check the space available on both sides of the wall.
What are the characteristics of the CUABOAL1SSOV000?
| Characteristic | Value |
|---|---|
| Manufacturer codes | 700E and 20653 |
| Type | Female assembly, triangular-flanged body |
| Body | 5056A aluminium |
| Spring-loaded sleeve | Cu Zn 40 Mg Ni Al (designation on the CKB datasheet) |
| Weight | 15 g |
| Mounting | 3 × 4 mm bolts (Ø 4.2 mm holes), on aircraft or refueller |
| NATO Stock Number | 5935-14-213-6073 |
5056A is an aluminium-magnesium alloy. According to Aircraft Materials, 5056 offers excellent corrosion resistance, including in salt-laden atmospheres: an advantage for a receptacle exposed on a refueller parked outdoors. The part was designed by CKB, later taken over by Deutsch and then by TE Connectivity; we source it independently and are not an official distributor.
Which plug is it used with?
With the CUAZOAL61SDOA00 male electrostatic balancing plug, compatible with the 700S, 700E, 710, 720 and 740 receptacles according to its datasheet. The CUABOAL1SSOV000 is the 700E in that list.
How do you identify the CUABOAL1SSOV000?
By its triangular flange, its protruding Ø 15 mm body and its NSN, 5935-14-213-6073. It circulates under two manufacturer designations: 700E, and 20653, the one the public ISO Group database associates with its NSN. Either one on your parts list is enough for us to process your request.
It resembles the CUANOAL61SOV000 electrostatic balancing socket: same base flange, same material, same weight. The difference lies in how the flange is mounted, as described above.
| Reference | Manufacturer code | Type | Flange | NATO Stock Number |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| CUABOAL61SOR000 | 710 | Waterproof aircraft-side receptacle, lock nut on bulkhead | Round | 5935-14-241-5600 |
| CUABOAL1SSOV000 | 700E / 20653 | Female receptacle, 3 bolts | Triangular | 5935-14-213-6073 |
| CUANOAL61SOV000 | 700S | Female receptacle, 3 bolts | Triangular | 5935-14-401-6611 |
| CUAZOAL61SDOA00 | 701 | Male plug with handle | Not applicable | 5935-14-283-6116 |
Frequently asked questions
Can the CUABOAL1SSOV000 be fitted to a refueller truck (bowser)?
Yes, the datasheet provides for mounting "on the aircraft or refueller", with three 4 mm bolts through Ø 4.2 mm holes at 120°. It then provides the fixed point into which the grounding plug of the grounding cable is connected. Check the space available: its body protrudes 31 mm on the connection side.
How does it differ from the CUANOAL61SOV000?
In the mounting flange. On the 700E, the base flange sits on the side opposite the connection and the Ø 15 mm body protrudes 31 mm. On the 700S, the 3 mm base flange sits against the connection side and the Ø 16 mm body extends 32 mm behind the wall. Material, weight and base flange are the same.
Why is the NSN more reliable than the manufacturer reference?
Because this part circulates under several designations: CUABOAL1SSOV000 on our site, 700E in the grounding plug's compatibility list, 20653 in the public NATO database. The number 5935-14-213-6073, however, is unique. Quote it in any request, together with the reference if you have it: we will match them.
